Learn more about SAM’s collections and exhibitions from curators and local experts. From October through June, these morning lectures are scheduled on the first Friday of every month, when seniors age 62 and over are admitted to SAM installations for free and to special exhibitions at a reduced price. Lectures are held in the Plestcheeff Auditorium at SAM Downtown beginning at 11 am and last between 45 minutes and one hour.

Experience the living art of chado, “the way of tea,” in the superbly crafted teahouse on the Third Floor at SAM Downtown. Hosted by the Urasenke Foundation, tea ceremonies occur twice a month on the second Tuesday at 11 am and the third Sunday at 2:30 pm from October to May. Seattle’s oldest arts organization presents an afternoon of classical music performed by club members and special guests. Performances are 60 minutes long and occur on the first Friday of the month at 1 pm at SAM Downtown and on the third Saturday at the Seattle Asian Art Museum from October to May.
