An interdisciplinary panel featuring faculty from the various South Asian programs at the University of Washington discusses the cultural, historical, literary and social context of the works featured in the exhibition Garden and Cosmos: The Royal Paintings of Jodhpur. Panelists include:

  • Michael Shapiro, professor of Hindi and chair of the Department of Asian Languages and Literature;
  • Heidi Pauwels, associate professor in the Department of Asian Languages and Literature;
  • Purnima Dhavan, assistant professor in the Department of History; and
  • Anand Yang, Golub Professor of History and director of the Jackson School of International Studies.

The panel will be moderated by Priti Ramamurthy, an associate professor of Women Studies and chair of the South Asia Center, Jackson School of International Studies.

Bringing together some of the most compelling thinkers on a given cultural subject, Pivotal Perspectives is a timely and innovative forum that addresses pressing issues in art and society.
