El Día de los Muertos Display
October 28–November 8, 2009
Brotman Forum

El Día de los Muertos is a traditional Mexican celebration honoring those who have passed on. For over a decade, a group of artists have created a brilliantly colored tapete—a colorful Mexican sand painting—at the Seattle Art Museum. Visit the Brotman Forum from October 28 to November 8 to see the tapete.

Stop by the WaMu Open Studio on Sunday, November 1, to make a special drop-in art project related to El Día de los Muertos. The closing celebration for the tapete always brings great food, music and friends, so save the date for November 5, 5–8 pm.

FREE and open to the public.

Partial support for the El Día de los Muertos celebration at SAM Downtown is provided by the Consulate of Mexico in Seattle.
