SAM Video: Michael Darling explains Tack and Jibe

Tack and Jibe is an installation of approximately 20 works of art that examine the use of sailing imagery. Photographs, drawings, paintings and video show how sails and boats have been an attractive theme for artists to work with over the centuries. Artists have been drawn to their composi- tional appeal as well as the romantic and allusive potential of the subject matter. The featured artworks take a wide range of approaches to the subject, from the very representational to the abstract.
