Thursday, August 15 at 8:30 PM
Join Friends of Waterfront Seattle and SAM for the boisterous sounds of Rebirth Brass Band in the Olympic Sculpture Park! Hailed by The New York Times as a “New Orleans jazz institution,” Grammy Award winning Rebirth Brass Band has been at the forefront of the brass band revival for over 30 years—embracing the traditions of New Orleans signature street bands while injecting their own brand of booty-shaking funk. Rebirth is featured in Treme, the HBO series about New Orleans after Katrina, and is a part of the Treme Tour. The band won a Grammy for their 2011 Basin Street Release the “Rebirth of New Orleans” in the regional roots category. We welcome you to enjoy the big, brassy, festive sounds of Rebirth while taking in the beautiful park and waterfront views—a summertime sensory experience not to be missed!
Friends of Waterfront Seattle is thrilled to partner with SAM to bring Rebirth to OSP for a free concert in celebration of summer along the waterfront. As we help build a new future for our City’s shoreline and its surrounding neighborhoods, we look forward to making accessible cultural programming a key part of realizing this vision.
Rebirth will perform in the Gates Amphitheater. Be sure to enter the park at Western Avenue and Broad Street. TASTE Café will offer drinks and snacks for sale until 10:45 pm. See you at the park!
