Paper, Silk, Pigment, Gold: The Art, Craft, and Science of Caring for Asian Paintings
Nicholas Dorman, Chief Conservator
Refined techniques and exquisite materials, honed over centuries, are some of the hallmarks of Asian painting traditions. This presentation tells the story of the materials used to create these remarkable works of art and describes our approach to caring for them.
Conversations with Curators offers members the chance to hear from our outstanding curators as they share rich stories about the art at SAM.
Lectures are held Wednesday evenings at the Seattle Art Museum. Doors open at 6 pm for Happy Hour in the South Hall where you can enjoy complimentary wine and light snacks. Curator talks begin at 7 pm in Plestcheeff Auditorium.
