Youth curators present a variety of daring works on paper inspired by The Harmon and Harriet Kelley Collection of African American Art: Works on Paper, a representation of legendary artists that span three centuries, which was on view at the Northwest African American Museum (NAAM) November 21, 2015–April 17, 2016.
The Dr. Carver Gayton Youth Curator Program at NAAM introduces youth to the philosophy and practices of museum work through creative, community-engaged projects on timeless and contemporary topics.
Artist Studio: Drawing Attention Outside the Lines encouraged Youth Curators to challenge their creativity and embrace experimenting outside of imposed boundaries. Al Doggett and Valencia Carroll, associate artists at the Onyx Fine Arts Collective, led the artistic process and supported individual expression, art appreciation, and self-confidence.
