First Friday Focus: Chiyo Ishikawa

Dec 6 2019

Seattle Art Museum

Plestcheeff Auditorium

11 AM – NOON

First Friday Focus is a free midday program featuring curators, artists, scholars, and creative minds behind SAM’s exhibitions. On the first Friday of every month (November-May), hear from a SAM curator or special guest and get an in-depth look at art and ideas related to SAM’s exhibitions and collection. After the program, visit the galleries with a fresh perspective and deeper understanding of the art and artists on view.

This month's First Friday Focus features Chiyo Ishikawa, SAM'S Susan Brotman Deputy Director for Art and Curator of European Painting and Sculpture, as she discusses Flesh and Blood: Italian Masterpieces from the Capodimonte Museum.

Flesh and Blood offers a rare opportunity to view unforgettable works from the Capodimonte Museum in Naples. These paintings explore the many ways the human body can express love and devotion, physical labor, and tragic suffering.

Free; RSVP requested.
