Northwest artists Junko Yamamoto and Olivia Britt present new work in this show. Junko Yamamoto’s work explores space-- the space between atoms, between people, objects, air, stars and sky; the cosmic glue which holds us and the universe together. She likes to push and pull two dimensional spaces with paint to bring three dimensional light and atmosphere. Shape, color, repetition, and surface are central to Britt's work. The materials and process used for a given piece are important to determining each. The imagery comes from a lineage of shapes that explore her relationship to everyday objects, architecture, and the industrial landscape.
