SAM Talks: Curating Monet at Étretat

Jun 22 2021

Seattle Art Museum

5 PM – 6 PM

Join us for a first look at SAM's upcoming exhibition Monet at Étretat, opening July 1. Learn about the exhibition and its themes during this conversation between Chiyo Ishikawa, SAM's former Deputy Director for Art and Curator of European Art, and George Shackelford, Deputy Director at the Kimbell Art Museum and a leading scholar of French art of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Ishikawa credits Shackelford as an early, enthusiastic, and influential supporter of organizing an exhibition around a single painting, Fishing Boats at Étretat, 1885, the only work by Monet in SAM's collection.
