Fall Educator Workshop: Connecting Words and Images

Oct 14 2022

Seattle Asian Art Museum

Alvord Board Room

2:30 PM – 4 PM

Spend your Washington State In-Service Day at the Seattle Asian Art Museum! Check out our virtual morning program for more information.

In this workshop, explore how words and images come together to foster connections between artists and the world around them. Take in artworks from the Seattle Asian Art Museum's collection, as well as pieces from the special exhibition Beyond the Mountain: Contemporary Chinese Artists on the Classical Forms. Led by SAM educators, attendees will experience works of art that use multiple modes of artistic expression, then try out engagement strategies for encouraging their students to do the same through discussing and making art.

All attendees are asked to wear a mask when not actively eating or drinking during this workshop.

The registration fee for this event is $35, or $30 for SAM members. If cost is a barrier, please contact EducatorPrograms@seattleartmuseum.org. It includes resources and Washington State Clock hours. Classroom educators, paraeducators, subject area coaches, and administrators are welcome to attend. RSVPs to this event are greatly appreciated.

Support for K-12 programs during the 2022-2023 school year is provided by the BNSF Railway Foundation, Foster Foundation, and Freeman Foundation. Partial, sustained support for SAM’s K-12 programs is provided by an endowment established in 1999 by a National Endowment for the Humanities challenge grant and the generous contributions of matching donors, including the Ann P. Wyckoff Education Endowment. The William Randolph Hearst Endowed Fund for Education Programs at the Seattle Art Museum has supported SAM K–12 programs since 1994.
