What makes music valuable is the effect that it has on the lives of people
who listen to it.” —Herbie Hancock \nMaiden Voyage is a traveling event ser
ies dedicated to intentional listening in high fidelity. Helmed by Jason Ju
stice and Justin Cayou\, two longtime fixtures of Seattle's vibrant music a
nd nightlife communities\, Maiden Voyage fuses music\, community\, and desi
gn into a listening experience inspired by the jazz kissa culture of Japan.
As in those intimate spaces\, listeners give their total attention to the
music\; the music is played on vinyl records\; and the records are played o
n superlative audio equipment. A Maiden Voyage event may span classic and c
ontemporary jazz\, soul\, ambient\, or electronic. Sessions are intended to
educate\, inspire\, and transport listeners beyond the bounds of the every
day. The result is a uniquely stimulating respite from the haze and noise o
f modern life conjured through music\, savored individually\, and shared co
mmunally.\nFree tickets are available both onsite and online.
