DESCRIPTION:SAM members are invited to tune in to an alternative art history at the Mem
 ber Preview &amp\; Happy Hour of Poke in the Eye: Art of the West Coast Cou
 nterculture\, before it opens to the public.\nPoke in the Eye celebrates of
 fbeat ceramics\, paintings\, and sculptures from West Coast artists of the 
 1960s and '70s to today. During this time\, artists primarily in Seattle an
 d the Bay Area offered a rebellious alternative to East Coast aesthetics\, 
 creating works bursting with bold color\, craft traditions\, and irreverent
  humor.\nAs a SAM member\, you get access to exclusive programming througho
 ut the day\, including:\nExhibition Overviews* | 12:30 pm &amp\; 6:30 pm | 
 Plestcheeff Auditorium\nGet an in-depth look at the exhibition with Carrie 
 Dedon\, SAM Associate Curator of Modern &amp\; Contemporary Art.\nArt-Makin
 g Activity | 12-7 pm | South Hall\nCreate your own offbeat art inspired by 
 the exhibition.\nHappy Hour | 4–7 pm | Brotman Forum\nToast the exhibition'
 s opening while enjoying music with fellow members. Drinks and snacks are a
 vailable for purchase.\nAll galleries\, SAM Shop\, and MARKET Seattle will 
 be open.\n*Seating for the exhibition overviews will be available on a firs
 t-come\, first-served basis. Overflow seating will be available in the Nord
 strom Lecture Hall. Separate tickets are not required for these auditorium 
 programs.
