DESCRIPTION:Join Dr. Miranda Belarde-Lewis (Zuni/Tlingit)\, Dr. Michelle H. Martin\, an
 d SAM Educators for an interactive professional development workshop focuse
 d on getting students excited about Native art and reading! Read-a-Rama use
 s children's and young adult literature paired with music\, movement\, and 
 hands-on activities to improve literacy while also encouraging social-emoti
 onal growth. \nFacilitators will highlight Native artworks and share how to
  use artwork and books as a springboard for hands-on activities that build 
 cultural competence and cultural humility in students from all backgrounds.
  Every participant will choose a free book to take home. \nThis workshop in
 cludes resources and Washington State Clock Hours. K–12 educators\, paraedu
 cators\, subject area coaches\, and administrators are welcome.
