On-Site, the second summer exhibition at the Olympic Sculpture Park, brings together new sculptures by Gretchen Bennett, Nicholas Nyland and Carolina Silva. Invited by Marisa C. Sánchez, SAM’s Assistant Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art, these 3 artists have conceived of objects, often experimental in concept and execution, that respond to the context of the park environment. Their temporary interventions provide unexpected encounters with sculpture, in turn encouraging fresh perspectives on sculpture and its making. Working in response to the park environment, their diverse works cast a new lens on our experience with sculpture and with the landscape at the Olympic Sculpture Park.
This exhibition was organized by the Seattle Art Museum. Support for artwork by Carolina Silva was provided by The Spain Arts & Culture Foundation, the Embassy of Spain, Washington, DC. SAM's Park Season at the Olympic Sculpture Park was sponsored by Seattle Art Museum Supporters (SAMS), Washington Partners, Amgen and RealNetworks Foundation. Media sponsor was Seattle Weekly.
