Member Preview & Happy Hour: Pop Departures

Oct 8 2014

Seattle Art Museum

Entire Building

All SAM members are invited to preview Pop Departures before it opens to the public. Pop Departures captures the radical accomplishments of iconic artists from the 1960s such as Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Claes Oldenburg, John Chamberlain, James Rosenquist, Tom Wesselmann, and Mel Ramos. The exhibition further examines a new generation of artists inspired by pop in the 1980s—including Jeff Koons, Richard Prince, John Baldessari, Barbara Kruger, and Raymond Pettibon. Finally, Pop Departures considers contemporary artistic positions in relation to commodity culture and celebrity with recent work by Josephine Meckseper, Elad Lassry, Margarita Cabrera, Mickalene Thomas, and Ryan Trecartin.
