Donate to support SAM

Consider making a contribution to our mission of connecting art to life. For more than 90 years, SAM has served as an inspiring cultural center. Whether you donate art, books, or directly to SAM Fund, with your help, SAM will remain a vibrant center for the arts in our region.

Make a difference with SAM Fund

The SAM Fund supports virtually every aspect of museum operations. Your contributions support SAM’s most immediate needs and are fully tax-deductible.

Each year, SAM undertakes a number of exciting and innovative projects. Donations play a critical role in sustaining SAM by allowing us to offer free admission on first Thursdays, subsidize bussing for school groups, provide a wide range of accessibility devices, bring artful experiences to youth through SAM Camp, and so much more.

Exhibitions

Matching gifts

Did you know that many employers will double your donation to SAM by matching your contribution? When combined with your donation, these gifts can double or sometimes even triple your support to SAM.

Stretch your support with your employer's contribution by participating in our matching gift program.

Complete the steps provided by your employer either online or by mail. If you've already sent in your payment, you may submit your matching gift form at any time during the course of your membership year.

If your company is not on SAM’s gift matching participant list, contact your company's Personnel, Human Resources, or Community Relations Department to see if they have a matching gift program.

Your donation still has a big impact, matched or not.

Planned giving

Make an investment in SAM’s future. By making a planned gift to SAM, you recognize the extraordinary value of art in our lives and the lives of generations to come.

SAM needs a strong endowment that provides a stable source of income and allows SAM to make exceptional works of art accessible and meaningful to a wide public. A planned gift, or bequest, becomes a permanent legacy and provides benefits to SAM year after year, generation after generation, nurturing our community’s creative spirit and expanding SAM’s collection.

When you include SAM in your estate plans, you become a member of The Fuller Society. It is our way of honoring your dedication to the future of SAM. As a member of The Fuller Society, you're invited to join us at exhibition opening events and at a special annual recognition celebration.

Fore more information please reach out to a member of our team: 206.654.3222

Art donations

If you are a collector who would like to offer works of art from your collection to the museum, we are interested in hearing from you. Please provide us with as much information as possible about the work including if your works are available for loan, for sale, or donation. Unfortunately, we cannot make studio visits, see the work in person, or make visits to private collections during the initial phase of the review.

Book donations

We accession hundreds of donated titles into our library collections each year. Thank you for considering the Seattle Art Museum Libraries for your gift. Please review the SAM library collection policies on the book donation form to determine if your gift is a good fit.
