Emerging Arts Leaders represent the next generation of arts and museum professionals. Weaving together cross-disciplinary project work, hands-on training with SAM staff, and a diverse range of lived experiences, these interns bring vibrant and relevant perspectives to the research, interpretation, and programming that SAM uses to bring art to life.
Join Ash Gingery, this fallâs Emerging Arts Leader in Curatorial, to explore SAMâs Ancient Mediterranean gallery and discuss âDeath in the Museumâ. This conversation will tie together the different ways that death is present in a museum gallery, from mummy portraits, to grave goods, to bequests: giving insight on both ancient funerary practices, as well as museum and archaeological practices, with a single room serving to illustrate the ubiquity of death in museums.
The group will meet at the entrance of the African Art gallery near the fourth floor escalators, and is open to all staff, volunteers, and visitors with general admission.
