Meot: Community Opening Day

Aug 28 2024

10 am–5 pm

Seattle Asian Art Museum

The Seattle Asian Art Museum is bringing back Wednesdays, and the whole community is invited to celebrate at the opening of the new exhibition, Meot: Korean Art from the Frank Bayley Collection.

SAM is thrilled to bring the museum—our original home in Volunteer Park—back to a schedule of five days a week, Wednesday through Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm. It’s thanks to the support of the whole community that the arts in Seattle continue to thrive, and we’re throwing the doors open for free to say thank you.

Plus, it’s opening day for a new exhibition: Meot invites you to contemplate the exquisite beauty of Korean art from across time. It features over 60 artworks from the collection of Frank Bayley (1939–2022), including an array of ceramics—Buncheong ware, whiteware, and blue-and-white—alongside paintings, photography, calligraphy, and wooden works. You can also explore the dynamic collection galleries, Boundless: Stories of Asian Art, which are organized in themes such as worship and celebration, visual arts and literature, and clothing and identity.
