Indo-Caribbean artist Suchitra Mattai unravels stories of the past to imagine new futures. Deeply influenced by the history of her ancestorsâbrought from India to work as indentured laborers in Guyanaâshe works with materials that honor the labor of women and uses techniques passed down through generations.

Conversation with artist Suchitra Mattai and exhibition curator Alison Gass, founding director of Institute of Contemporary Art San Francisco, moderated by JosĂŠ Diaz, SAMâs Susan Brotman Deputy Director for Art.
Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Overflow seating and simulcast will be available in the Alvord Board Room.
