This talk coincides with the debut of his new installation inside the Olympic Sculpture Parkâs PACCAR Pavilion.
Known for his conceptual âmapsâ that weave together mythology, politics, memory, and society, Qiuâs practice bridges traditional literati aesthetics with bold contemporary experimentation. From projects like Assignment No. 1: Copying the âOrchid Pavilion Prefaceâ One Thousand Times to his long-term Suicidology of the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge, Qiu challenges how symbols, repetition, and erasure shape culture and identity. As Dean of the School of Experimental Art at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing and curator of major exhibitions including the Chinese Pavilion at the 2017 Venice Biennale, Qiu continues to redefine the role of art in reflecting and reshaping the world around us.
