Community Passes

About

SAM strives to be an inclusive and welcoming place for everyone. Through strategic community partner organizations, we provide free opportunities to experience the museum for those in our community who have historically faced barriers or been excluded from engaging with the museum.

We prioritize service-based nonprofit or governmental organizations that support members of marginalized communities including, but not limited to

  • Low-income families
  • Communities of color
  • Communities navigating disability
  • Immigrant and refugee communities
  • families or individuals experiencing homelessness.

Partner organizations must be either

  • A direct service organization that provides free programming and services to at-risk or under-resourced populations
  • A non-profit with 501c3 status, a government entity, an Indigenous community organization, or a religious organization with a secular community function

Qualifying partner organizations receive a number of free individual passes to the museum for use by anyone in the organization’s client base and by accompanying staff members.

What to know

Applications open each Autumn. If admitted, benefits renew annually.

Organizations need to provide general demographics of the community they serve.

A single point of contact should be designated as the program liaison.

Passes are distributed quarterly and expires at the end of the year.

Each pass admits up to 6 people for one visit at either Seattle Art Museum or the Seattle Asian Art Museum and can be redeemed at the Ticketing Desk.

Passes cannot be used as rewards, incentives, or fundraising items, and may not be sold.

Groups of 10+ are advised to submit a Group Visit request and note “Community Pass Program.”
