About

SAM strives to be an inclusive and welcoming place for everyone. Through strategic community partner organizations, we provide free opportunities to experience the museum for those in our community who have historically faced barriers or been excluded from engaging with the museum.

We prioritize service-based nonprofit or governmental organizations that support members of marginalized communities including low-income families; communities of color; immigrant and refugee communities; and families or individuals experiencing homelessness. Partner organizations must be a direct service organization that provides free programming and services to at-risk or under-resourced populations or a non-profit with 501c3 status, a government entity, an Indigenous community organization, or a religious organization with a secular community function.

Qualifying partner organizations receive a number of free individual passes to the museum for use by anyone in the organization’s client base and by accompanying staff members.

What to know

We accept applications every Autumn from qualifying organizations to join this program on an annual basis. Organizations only need to apply to participate in this program once, and if admitted, will be considered ongoing partners but will need to review and renew benefits annually.

Organizations need to provide general demographics of the community they serve in order to qualify.

Organizations will need to designate a single point of contact as a liaison with SAM for this program.

Admission tickets are distributed at the start of the calendar year and are valid through the end of that same year.

Each Community Pass is good for one-time use and can be redeemed for one free ticket to the Seattle Art Museum or the Seattle Asian Art Museum. Passes can only be redeemed in person at the Ticketing Desk upon arrival.

Passes should not be used by the partner organizations as rewards, incentives or donation items for fundraising purposes. They do not have a cash value and should never be sold or distributed to employees or non-qualifying individuals for personal use.

To use Community Passes to bring a group of 10 or more people to the museum, please make a Group Visit request and put “Community Pass Program” in the special request section.
