Julie Paschkis

I have been making art for all my life. That art stretches across different genres. I have illustrated over 40 picture books. Those books have won awards from the New York Times, Horn Book, Kirkus and the Junior Library Guild. In 2023 I won the BIMA Brava Award for Excellence in Children’s Book Illustration. During my career as a children’s book illustrator I always continued with a studio practice - creating paintings and experimenting in other media. The books grew out of the freedom and creativity that I have in my studio. I have had a solo show roughly every two years since 1991. In addition to creating paintings and illustrating books I have also designed mosaics, fabric, cards, rugs and pillows. What all of this work has in common is a love of storytelling and of beauty.
