To ensure that everyone has the opportunity to experience art, SAM offers monthly free days and various discounts for visiting our locations. Through partnerships with organizations and through corporate support, there are many ways to get free or reduced admission to SAM. We are committed to providing access to art for those who experience barriers to entry.

Discounts at Seattle Art Museum

  • First Fridays: $5 Admission for Seniors
    Admission to the Seattle Art Museum is $5 for Seniors (65+) the first Friday of each month. Tickets available both onsite and online.

  • Suggested Admission
    As part of our operating agreement with the City of Seattle, we offer suggested admission at Seattle Asian Art Museum. Visitors may pay what they wish when purchasing tickets onsite.

Discounts across SAM locations

First Thursdays: FREE

Admission is FREE to everyone at the Seattle Art Museum and the Seattle Asian Art Museum on the first Thursday of every month. Tickets are available both onsite and online.

King County Library Museum Pass: FREE

Passes may be reserved online, pending availability, through the King County Library’s website. Each pass admits up to two people and must be presented with a matching ID. Passes are redeemable onsite only.

Seattle Public Library Museum Pass: FREE

Passes may be reserved online, pending availability, through the Seattle Public Library’s website. Each pass admits up to two people and must be presented with a matching ID. Passes are redeemable onsite only.

Museums for All: FREE

Museums for All is a national initiative that encourages low-income individuals and families to visit museums regularly. This program provides free admission for up to five people. Verification of SNAP, EBT, or WIC card is required. Free tickets are available onsite only.

Caregivers: FREE

Free admission is granted to caregivers attending the museum with care recipients. In-person verification required. Available onsite only.

Educators: FREE

Request a free educator ticket by emailing educatorprograms@seattleartmuseum.org with your preferred date and location. Please provide one to two weeks' advance notice.

Bank of America Card Holders: FREE

Bank of America cardholders are granted one admission ticket on the first full weekend of each month. Available onsite only.

Employees of other museums: FREE

Work badges with photo ID must be presented as proof of employment. Available onsite only.

AAM and ICOM Card Holders: FREE

Verification of current AAM or ICOM card is required. One ticket per cardholder. Available onsite only.

Highline Public School Families: FREE

Free admission is granted to Highline Public Schools students and families. Please identify the school that the student(s) attend at the Ticketing Desk. Available onsite only.

Blue Star Museums: FREE for Military + Family

Blue Star Museums offers free admission to military personnel and their families from Armed Forces Day in May through Labor Day in September. Admission is valid for up to six people. Verification of military ID or status is required. Available onsite only.

Group Visits

Discounted rates at Seattle Art Museum and Seattle Asian Art Museum are available for groups of 10 or more and for non-profits and community organizations. More information: groups@seattleartmuseum.org.

TeenTix Pass Holders: $5 admission

Administered through TeenTix, this pass grants teens access to $5 tickets at SAM as one of their partner organizations. TeenTix verification is required to redeem. Available onsite only.

Gold Card / Flash Card Holders: $5 admission

Administered through the City of Seattle, these cards provide discounts to adults with disabilities and seniors at participating organizations. Card verification is required. Available onsite only.

PCC Community Markets Members: 10% off

PCC Members enjoy a 10% discount on admission upon presenting their PCC Market Member card. Available onsite only.

Community Passes

We provide free access to those in our community who have historically faced barriers or been excluded from engaging with the museum.
