Wax On explores the methods and styles adapted by artists creating with wax. Using the ancient method of encaustic painting and process, these works feature elements of photography, painting, and layering combined with heated wax, pigment, and natural tone luminosity. The artists featured in this show have a nuanced understanding of this material and provide a wide range of what's possible with encaustic. Artists Larry Calkins, Nichole DeMent, Catherine Eaton Skinner, Kathy Hastings, and Joey Robinson are brought together to share in the love of this multi-faceted natural medium and process.
