Teen Arts Group (TAG)

In an art studio, teenagers work together, using markers to contribute colors to a large sheet of paper.
About

Make your mark on Art—apply for TAG! Teen Arts Group (TAG) is an intensive program for high school-aged youth who are interested in leadership and community, eager to learn about themselves and the world through art, and want to make SAM fun and engaging for teens.

In TAG you will

  • Learn about the many unseen sides of an art museum, from exhibit conceptualization, to curation, and conservation.
  • Share your passion for art with others by leading tours and connecting with the community through social media.
  • Plan Teen Night Out and other special events like screenings and gallery talks.
  • Create your art in new and familiar mediums; this is the space to try something daring!

Applications for TAG are currently closed. Stay tuned for more info!

What to know

TAG meets at SAM Thursday evenings October–May

TAG members receive community-service learning credits or a stipend for their participation.

The TAG application deadline is typically in mid-May.

The application process to become a TAG member includes a virtual interview.

SAM is dedicated to engaging with historically under-represented groups in the museum field. Research shows that individuals who identify as women or as Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) are less likely to apply for roles they do not feel 100% qualified to fill. We encourage you to apply if you believe yourself to be a good fit for the TAG program and SAM's mission to connect art to life.
