All members are invited to join us for Member Day on the official opening of the exhibition Suchitra Mattai: she walked in reverse and found their songs, SAMâs newest exhibition at the Seattle Asian Art Museum.
Indo-Caribbean artist Suchitra Mattai unravels stories of the past to imagine new futures. Deeply influenced by the history of her ancestorsâbrought from India to work as indentured laborers in Guyanaâshe works with materials that honor the labor of women and uses techniques passed down through generations.
Member-exclusive perks include an exhibition overview with JosĂ© Carlos Diaz, Susan Brotman Deputy Director for Art, at 12:30 pm and a bar with drinks and snacks for purchase from 4â7:30 pm. Plus, take advantage of the rare opportunity to hear from Suchitra Mattai herself during a special conversation with JosĂ© Carlos Diaz at 6 pm!
Suchitra Mattai: she walked in reverse and found their songs is organized by the Institute of Contemporary Art San Francisco.
